Per la quarta galleria dedicata all'Europa dell'Est ci troviamo in visita in Romania; qui abbiamo modo di vedere due estremità opposte del paese.
Cominciamo esplorando la verde regione intorno a Brașov, in Transilvania; i suoi castelli e le sue montagne ispirano grande relax nonostante siamo in terra di vampiri - non ne abbiamo fortunatamente incontrato alcuno - e del simpatico Vlad l'Impalatore che, ignoranza mia, ho scoperto solo ora essere lo stesso che ha ispirato il personaggio del conte Dracula.
Sopravvissuti a questa prima parte del viaggio ci spostiamo in città, nella capitale Bucarest, luogo capace di alternare monumentalità e sfarzo, tra la lussuosa residenza di Ceaușescu, in cui non ho potuto fare foto, e il palazzo del parlamento rumeno (si dice essere l'edificio più pesante al mondo e non è difficile crederlo, date le dimensioni e la quantità di marmo) contrapposti ad un certo fascino decadente in bella vista subito al di fuori da questi.
In the fourth gallery dedicated to Eastern Europe, we find ourselves visiting Romania; here we get to see two opposite ends of the country.
We begin by exploring the green region around Brașov, in Transylvania; its castles and mountains inspire deep relaxation, even though we are in the land of vampires - fortunately, we did not run into any - and of the friendly Vlad the Impaler himself, who, to my ignorance, I only just discovered to be the very same person who inspired the character of Count Dracula.
Having survived this first part of the journey we move into the city, the capital Bucharest, a place capable of alternating monumentality and splendor, between Ceaușescu's luxurious residence, where I was not allowed to take photos, and the Romanian Parliament Palace (they say it is the heaviest building in the world, and it is not hard to believe, given its size and the amount of marble), contrasted with a certain decadent charm plainly on display just outside these landmarks.ast
